TASB Training
Throughout the year, TASB offers valuable training opportunities. Although our focus is school boards, we also train district administrators, other school employees, and community members. Find us at major events featuring a wide selection of topics, at regional focused-topic workshops, or inside districts, training at your request with a customized approach.
We provide comprehensive training in district governance and oversight, as well as leadership and teamwork; specialized training for new school board members and board presidents; and other types of training to keep members informed and to help district operations run smoothly.
Other TASB training runs the gamut in specific-topic areas:
- Environmental/regulatory compliance
- Human resource management
- Legal issues
- Medicaid
- Policy
- Risk management
The list of training that follows, grouped by program area, serves as a sample of the type of training TASB offers. Topics are subject to change as we strive to meet the current needs of our members.

Board members are required to receive three kinds of continuing education: Tier One (Orientations), Tier Two (Teamwork), and Tier Three (Discretionary Continuing Education). Board members, as public officials, must also receive training on the Open Meetings Act. The board president must announce trustees’ compliance with continuing education requirements at the meeting during which school board elections are called. Also, the minutes of the last regular board meeting of the calendar year must include an update on the continuing education board members have received to date.
