TASB's Leadership Team Services (LTS) is committed to enhancing the effectiveness of leadership teams through training, publications, planning and consulting services, and facilitation services created specifically for school boards.
Training and Events
A major focus of LTS is to provide invaluable training so that board members and superintendents are working at their best. To facilitate this, LTS coordinates many of TASB’s board training conferences and workshops, including the TASA/TASB Annual Convention, Summer Leadership Institutes, Winter Governance and Legal Seminar, and regional Spring Workshops. LTS’ board development consultants also offer governance team operations training in local districts for individual boards or groups of local boards. In addition, LTS provides training programs specific to certain audiences, such as the TASB ISD sessions for new board members, Board Presidents’ Academy sessions, and the yearlong Leadership TASB program for experienced trustees who want to further develop their leadership knowledge and skills.Consulting Services
Each LTS consultant has at least 20 years of experience working with and/or serving on school boards. Board members and superintendents can receive advice from them by phone on effective practices for conducting board business or working through specific problems. When a phone visit isn’t enough, consultants can help leadership teams structure their work to improve district and team performance through activities such as comprehensive strategic planning, annual goals updates, and development of performance goals and monitoring systems customized to meet the team’s needs. Skilled facilitation services also are available to help board, staff, and community teams address challenges such as planning for growth, building community relations, or other special projects.
